John William Conner worked in farming (both produce and life stock) and logging. He was the son James Richard Conner and Emeline Cale Conner. John William Conner attended the Assemblies of God church in Windsor, NC and was active in living & sharing his Christian faith. His favorite Bible chapter was John 14, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also..."
During the last week of his life he woke from a coma and told his youngest son, Carl Graham Conner, "I'll be gone in a week. Tell all the children and grandchildren to meet me in heaven." One week later, almost to the minute, Carl was holding his father's wrist when his last heart beat was felt and he went home to be with his Lord & Savoir Jesus Christ.
