1. Jesus Fasted As An Example For Christians To Follow.
"And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.'" ~ Matthew 4:2
2. Jesus Expected His Followers To Fast And Taught About Fasting.
"And when you fast, don't make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get. But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you." ~ Matthew 6:16-18
3. Jesus Said That His Disciples Would Fast.
"And Jesus said to them, 'Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.'" ~ Matthew 9:15
